The 2017 tour was a sporadic one, and marked the end of an era. It began with "Reelin' in The Chips", a concert residency at the Opaline Theatre in Las Vegas with three other dates in California. After this, a few one-off shows were performed. The show on May 27th in Greenwich, Connecticut turned out to be Walter Becker's final show with Steely Dan, as he passed away on September 3rd, 2017. The tour resumed in October, with an empty spot on stage where Becker once stood. During these shows, Donald Fagen would sing Becker's song "Book of Liars" as a tribute to his musical partner.
